Among the recent activities involved Rwanda soldiers in Tumba sector in Huye district was to rebuild the house of Marcella Mukamusoni a 42 year old genocide survivor which she had spent 5 years living but in poor condition.
As Mukamusoni explained, this house was leaking to the extent that floods could run through and this made her worried most of the time thinking where she will take her two young children she gave birth with the Burundian man who no longer stays with her. She knew that the rainy season would demolish it if nothing was done on it.
Due to lack of a decent accommodation and not having family members to turn to made her feel lonely and rejected.
"I was given this house in 2007 and was built by TIG and they left without finishing it and I have been living in it just like that. I felt very lonely and had decided not to go where people are and not even to attend discussions given during Memorial week as I felt I didn't need them." she said.
Too much worry had caused Mukamusoni to have a constant headache which could not be healed but now after her house being rebuilt, she feels the headache is waning and she is sure it was caused by too much worry and having no one to talk too though she had approached the sector administration and in vain.
Apart from rebuilding her house, the army built a kraal for her where the cow she was given in Girinka program will be staying. She is hopeful that she will achieve a lot and she is very grateful for the deed the soldiers did for her showing her that they care for her yet they didn't know her at all. She no longer feels rejected.
