On July 24th 2012 Rwanda Governance Board (RGB) met with local leaders and reminded them that good governance is not only for leaders but partnership of local leadership and residents.
The meeting saw the turn up of Executive secretaries of sectors District and sector advisory committee representatives, Non-governmental organizations representatives, Private sectors and the stake holders' federation in Nyamasheke district.
Albert Rwego that represented Transparency Rwanda asserted that service seekers are all equal and should be treated the same way.
Rwego adds that if local leaders are transparent, residents and private sectors participate in good governance, customer care will improve and government finances will be utilized.
Antoine Ruburika, Head of good governance department in RGB asked the participants to be cooperative, communicate and deliver reports on the work done.
RGB official added that if the above are observed as shown in the 8 pillars of good governance, human rights will be respected, residents will participate in development activities, security tightened and corruption plus violence will be eradicated.
Charles Bahizi, Vice mayor of Nyamasheke district in charge of economic affairs thanked RGB for positive talks that will help leaders fulfill their responsibilities.
Dicussions held were based on the research made on implementation of good governance in Rwanda.
