Honorable Deputy Marie Josee Kankera, Deputy Speaker for the chamber of Deputies
Bushenge sector Residents in Nyamasheke district have been told to speak the truth to data collectors during the 4th housing and population census to start on August 16th 2012.
On July 29th 2012 after the community work, Honorable Deputy Marie Josee Kankera, Deputy Speaker for the chamber of Deputies explained to Bushenge residents that general census is based on in all government programs, so they have to participate and reveal the truth.
Hon. Kankera said: "Lets answer the questions data collectors will ask us because it will set the point to prepare all government programs. We should drop the habit of showing the need to get help."
Although there are many government programs that aim at helping residents to socially and economically develop like Ubudehe and Umurenge Vision Program (VUP), residents should understand that census is meant to reveal the number of residents and their social welfare.
Deputy Kankera adds that schools and hospitals to be built depend on the number of people got through general census because it shows which area needs improvement for the good living of Rwandese.
On July 23rd 2012 during the event to open data collectors training, they were asked not to sit home and assume the numbers but to visit every home and gather correct information.
