The Rwandese Association of Local Government Authorities "RALGA" says community health workers should help residents to change their attitude especially on HIV/Aids, malaria and reproduction health.

As a way of helping health workers, RALGA established forums in every sector where health officials of the sectors and districts help them in understanding how to sensitise residents.

During the meeting with community health workers on July 10th 2012, RALGA worker in charge of health, Oscar Nzirera denoted RALGA and its donors injected over $2 millions in this health program.

On the side of community workers, they highlighted illiteracy, lack of facilities and teaching guides as some of the challenges they face.

Console Niragira, a community health worker from Kabagari sector in Ruhango district confesses how hard it is to stand before people and teach them without illustrations.

She asked RALGA to try and provide teaching guides so that their purpose of empowering community health workers is achieved.

The program of forums for health officials was started in 2008 by RALGA and will end in 2013. Up to 4800 health workers from 416 sectors of Rwanda have been trained.
