Regional police officers undergoing a two months training course
Thirty Police officers from Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan and Somalia kicked-off a two months Police supervisory course at Kacyiru Police Headquarters on Monday.
According to the Minister of Internal security Sheikh Musa Fazil Harelimana said that Rwanda National Police developed this course with the aim of equipping senior police officers with relevant and appropriate skills that will help them to confront the emerging policing challenges locally and internationally.
He told participants to understand that the emerging criminal trends require constant training in order to keep a step ahead of today's organized crimes.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Felix Namuhoranye, the National Police Academy commandant noted that the course is expected to provide participants with package in police practical procedures, techniques of preventing, detecting and investing crimes.
The course will include units like, transnational organized crimes, understanding the police command dimensions, police leadership and management, human rights, contemporary issues in policing field and media relations.
ACP Namuhoranye further added that Rwanda National Police hopes that the working experience and cultural diversity of the course participants will contribute to the sharing of different skills, knowledge as well as to the success of this course.
Present at the course commencement ceremony were the Inspector General of Police Emmanuel K. Gasana, The Permanent Secretary in Minister of Internal security Valens Munyabagisha and Chief of Defense Staff Lieutenant General Ceaser Kayizari.
