Rwandan youth have called upon the government to put in place tough measures against rapid population increase, a problem they say is influenced by different factors including; culture, 1994 genocide impacts, ignorance, and many more.
Youth revealed this during a match, from the Rwandan Parliament to Amahoro stadium to mark world population day.
"Government policies to control rapid population should be strengthened. More awareness about family planning should be done especially in the remote," said Elias Kabanda, Rwandan youth.
Government continues to emphasize family planning as key to building a sustainable country. Meanwhile, the current population figures show there are about 350 people per square kilometer in Rwanda.
The government continues to educate and emphasize the use of different scientifically proven birth control measures, to stabilize the population, according to Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, John Rwangombwa.
Focus for this year's world population day is to focus on Universal Access to Reproductive Health Services. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has called for more to be done to help those who most need access to reproductive health care.
