The management of Vision 2020 Umurenge Program (VUP) in Rusizi district, an Integrated Local Development Program to Accelerate Poverty Eradication, Rural Growth, and Social Protection on the Friday the 13th.July.2012 has been hailed due to positive Developmental support in a meeting held 13th July2012.
The meeting that brought them together with executive secretaries of four sectors VUP in which VUP operates revealed intensive evaluation and 2011-2012 plans for 2012-2013, also intending to eradicate poverty among other social problems
VUP has helped eradicate poverty in many people by giving work to people and paying them and they can in return pay their own medical insurance, buy livestock and maintain their families.
Valerie Nyirangirishyuti who coordinates VUP program in Nkombo sector said that people should take care of projects that VUP brought to them so that even when their time is over, people should keep developing themselves.
Placide Sibomana the executive secretary of Butare sector also said that the life style of his people changed in one year that VUP has been working there and asked people to embrace what they already have and keep developing themselves even when VUP no longer operates in their area.
VUP program works in a certain sector depending on the sector with more poor people in a district. In Rusizi district, VUP program operates in Nkombo, Nyakarenzo, Butare, Bweyeye sectors and in this year, it will also operate in Nkungu and Gikundamvura sector among the 18 sectors in this district.
VUP program has three main objectives that is supporting poor people quickly with whatever they need in case of a problem, giving credit on 2percent profit and giving people work and paying them every 15 days. All these objectives are meant to develop people and help them get out of poverty.
