On July 13th 2012, the Solidarity football Team in Butare town donated up to 35 rabbits to the genocide widows of Busunzu village, Kimuna cell, Rusatira sector in Huye district.
Jean Pierre Nshimiyimana, President of the Solidarity Team asked the beneficiaries to form cooperatives so as to work together and share ideas.
He adds: "if you take good care of them, the whole cell will be keeping rabbits in a short time from now."
Solidarity Team and the genocide widows are friends; every widow has a separate friend in this foot ball team.
This friendship started in 2010 when they donated goats on visit and continued to donate printed fabrics and bed sheets to the widows in 2011.
To show their appreciation, genocide widows gave solidarity team members beans. Widows' leader said: "You gave us beddings, we slept well, grew crops and harvested. You have been supportive to us; we are happy and will visit you as well."
The Solidarity Team promised to continue their friendship with the widows advising them on agriculture since one of the solidarity team members works in Rwanda Agriculture Board.
Solidarity Team is made of 35 members and their widow friends are over 60 in number.
